This chapter introduces psycholinguistics as an interdisciplinary framework for examining how literary texts are processed, interpreted, and experienced by readers. It situates psycholinguistics alongside stylistics, reader-response theory, and cognitive literary studies, arguing that literary meaning emerges through mental processes rather than textual features alone. Key conce s such as language processing, mental representation, and reader cognition are outlined to establish the theoretical foundation of the book.
